Funky Four Plus One - That's the Joint 1980 & those who sampled
So I define hip-hop pre 90's as "Old School" and hip-hop made during 90's as "True School". This track my friends is an "Old School" track andhas been sampled by a bunch of groups.

last week's silence... GURU RIP
You may, or may not, have noticed the lack of any posts last week. There are two reasons behind the silence (1) I was just insanely busy and more importantly (2) with Guru's passing I honestly wasn't sure what to post. I didn't want to post all the samples from Gang Starr as I've already posted a ton of them here and on FB and frankly that speaks more to Premo vs. Guru. I also didn't want to just post my favorite GS tracks or Guru (non Premo) tracks as everyone was already doing that. I wanted to avoid a long angry rant around #fucksolar and the Guru brainwashing that lead to the death of Gang Starr and the GS Foundation years ago continuing through his death.
So I'll chalk it up to a long moment of silence out of respect. Respect due. RIP Gifted Unlimited Rhymes Universal.

Nick Javas reppin Jersey & Rutgers down with Premo's label
Premo signed Nick Javas (a white dude from Jersey who went to Rutgers) to his independent label Year Round Records. I think this cat will get some props from the hip-hop community with Premo backing him. What do you think?

Hamilton Bohannon "Stop and Go" '72
Just got put onto this artist and track the other day via a Large Professor interview done by Crate Kings http://www.cratekings.com/ (great website) where LP was asked what's his favorite record. His response was it's impossible to answer but at the very moment I'm gonna say Bohannon "Stop and Go". So I dug it up, listened to it, liked it and now I'm sharing it with you. Thanks to Crate Kings and The LP. Enjoy...
